Length of the route
The GPON solution is ideal for distributing IP services even in large-scale systems such as villages and resorts
because it allows for sections of up to 20 kilometres
All services up to 20 kilometers
One of the peculiar characteristics of the GPON passive fiber optic solution consists in the possibility of distributing the services over very long sections.
Thanks to the use of single-mode fiber and the power of the optical signal transmitted by the OLT (Optical Line Terminal) machine, in fact, compared to the 90 meters of traditional copper cabling, the GPON solution allows creating connections up to a distance of 20 kilometers between the OLT transmission point and the ONT reception point.
The system is therefore also ideal in very large systems, such as villages and campsites, or in industrial areas for the creation of perimeter video surveillance systems; the advantage is also important with respect to any architectural or landscape constraints, because the optical fiber can be easily installed even in the narrowest ducts.
Highly reliable systems
The ability to manage long distribution sections makes the GPON system also suitable for the construction of highly reliable systems, where high safety standards are required; these are systems that provide for passive and active redundancy, created with ring distribution that starts from the server room and returns to it, connected to two different ports of the OLT machine.
In this way, if the ring is interrupted at any point of the section, automatically the OLT machine, detecting the lack of devices distributed in the field, reactivates the section of the disconnected ring.
