Thanks to its scalable architecture and high switching capacity, it serves as the perfect Star Center (Core/Aggregation Layer) for modern multiservice networks.

The FSW-948C-6SFP+ meets the demands of modern multiservice architectures. Its hardware engine manages a forwarding rate of up to 600 Mpps, ensuring wire-speed performance and zero bottlenecks. This computational power enables Advanced Multicast Routing, optimized for latency- and jitter-sensitive traffic such as IPTV, HD video surveillance, and 4K streams, natively combining Layer 2 efficiency (IGMP Snooping) with Layer 3 routing (PIM-SM/DM).

To support maximum scalability, the device offers High-Density connectivity with 48 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports for massive endpoint access. Additionally, 6 x 10GE SFP+ ports are available for high-capacity uplinks or Stacking configurations (exclusively with switches of the same series). Tthe fault-tolerant architecture ensures rigorous Business Continuity via redundant Hot-Swap power supply slots (AC 220V), designed to eliminate downtime in critical operational deployments.

Layer 2 Optimization & Bandwidth Management

  • IGMP Snooping (v1/v2/v3): Full IGMP suite support with hardware-based inspection of control traffic. It implements dynamic host mapping to ensure multicast packets are forwarded exclusively to the requesting interfaces, optimizing overall bandwidth.

  • IGMP Fast Leave: Critical for Quality of Experience (QoE). This feature enables immediate release of network resources and stream termination upon a channel change (zapping), minimizing latency and preventing port saturation.

  • MVR (Multicast VLAN Registration): Optimized for multi-tenant scenarios. It allows a single multicast stream to be shared across multiple client VLANs, reducing traffic duplication while maintaining strict domain isolation.

  • IPv6 Multicast-Ready: Supports IPv6 transition by integrating native MLD v1/v2 protocols and MLD Snooping functionality.

Layer-3 Multicast Routing & Topology Simplification

  • PIM-SM (Sparse Mode) & PIM-DM (Dense Mode): Comprehensive support for PIM protocols allows the switch to function as an Aggregation node, flexibly routing L3 flows across both low-density (SM) and high-density (DM) network segments.

  • IGMP Proxy (Hierarchical Integration): Architectural optimization designed to reduce core overhead. The switch acts as a transparent intermediary, aggregating multiple Join/Leave requests from edge hosts and forwarding them to the upstream PIM router as a single client. This significantly reduces the computational load and Control Plane signaling on core routers, maximizing vertical scalability.

Security & Control Plane Protection

  • IGMP Filter (ACL): Provides a layer of security and segmentation by allowing the configuration of filters to define which endpoints are authorized to access specific multicast groups.

  • Multicast Storm Control: Implements robust defense mechanisms against broadcast, multicast, and unknown unicast storms, protecting system processing resources from network downtime.
