The FSW-924F-2XC switch represents a new generation of full-10GE TOR (Top-of-Rack) appliances, specifically engineered for the high-density distribution of IPTV streams originated from advanced Headends such as 3DG-FLEX and GALAXIA. The device is equipped with an 800 Gbps backplane, enabling its operation as a Layer 3 Aggregation or Core node, while simultaneously ensuring optimal Quality of Service (QoS) management and a drastic reduction in switching latency across shared infrastructures. Its hardware engine is capable of managing a forwarding rate of 600 Mpps, ensuring the seamless delivery of HD and 4K content sensitive to jitter and latency.

Connectivity is structured around 24 10G SFP+ ports designed for the interconnection of fiber backbones from secondary racks, OLTs, or servers, integrated by 2 x QSFP28 100GE/40GE interfaces dedicated exclusively to high-capacity uplinks or stacking configurations with units of the same series. Business Continuity is maintained by a hot-swap redundant power supply system (AC 220V).

Layer 2 Optimization & Bandwidth Management

  • IGMP Snooping (v1/v2/v3): Full IGMP suite support with hardware-based inspection of control traffic to manage high-density IPTV streams. It implements dynamic host mapping for selective multicast packet forwarding to interested interfaces only, optimizing the 800 Gbps backplane efficiency.

  • IGMP Fast Leave: Immediate network resource release management upon receipt of a Leave packet. This feature is designed to reduce stream switch-over latency (zapping) and prevent bandwidth saturation on the 24 10G SFP+ edge ports.

  • MVR (Multicast VLAN Registration): Supports multicast stream distribution shared across up to 4,096 active VLANs. It enables user data traffic isolation while maintaining a single video stream to optimize trunk efficiency on the 100GE QSFP28 interfaces.

  • Multicast IPv6: Native support for MLD v1/v2 protocols and MLD Snooping functionality for multicast traffic management in next-generation IPv6 environments.

Layer-3 Multicast Routing & Network Topology

  • PIM-SM & PIM-DM: Comprehensive support for Protocol Independent Multicast in both Sparse and Dense modes. Enables the switch to operate as a Layer-3 aggregation node for multicast flow routing across 1,000 different VLAN interfaces.

  • IGMP Proxy: Aggregation functionality for IGMP signaling (Join/Leave). The switch acts as a single client toward the upstream PIM router, reducing Control Plane overhead on the core router and enhancing architectural scalability, supported by a 600 Mpps forwarding rate.

Security & Control Plane Protection

  • IGMP Filter (ACL): Implementation of Access Control Lists (ACLs) applied to multicast groups. It allows restricting access to specific streams based on endpoint identity or SFP+ port, ensuring security in Enterprise deployments.

  • Storm-Control: Traffic threshold limiting mechanisms for Broadcast, Multicast, and Unknown Unicast. It protects system CPU resources from network anomalies, accidental loops, or traffic storms that could compromise Business Continuity, which is further guaranteed by redundant power supplies.
