Distribute the decoder signal to televisions via DTV so that both Italian and Greek channels are visible during navigation; perform the “OVERRIDER” switch function to display the safety videos on all televisions.

To meet the customer’s needs, it was decided to replace the 10 TV decoders on board with 2 D-MATRIX 4S EVO compact control units, capable of receiving the desired HD or SD programs from various satellite transponders and to transmodulate the output in the digital multiplexes available throughout the TV band.

In this way, with the centralized management of programming, it is no longer necessary to intervene on each individual decoder to offer customers the requested content; maintenance is also simplified because the D-Matrix control units can can also be managed remotely via PC or smartphone.
Equipped with 2 Common Interface slots each, the exchanges are used to distribute national programs RAI, Mediaset and tivùsat and international programmes, in particular from the Greek provider NOVA.

The system is also equipped with a HMODTV-LT modulator which converts 1 internal program for broadcasting content relating to ship activities – information, excursions, day programs – plus 1 program of your choice remodulated by a satellite receiver: in this way, according to need, it is possible to insert new content, for example to meet the needs of foreign customers or on the occasion of a particular event.

The signal is then converted to optical fiber through the OPT-TX transmitter for horizontal distribution to all the optical termination boxes. The task of the OPT-RX optical receiver will be to convert the signal back into coaxial, so as to reach all the socket points.

Especially in the construction of signal distribution systems on ships, the use of optical fiber is recommended for a whole series of technical and installation advantages.
In addition to the enormous bandwidth availability and the ease of cabling given its small size, optical fiber is characterized in particular by its complete immunity to electromagnetic interference and the environmental conditions – let’s think of the saltiness – making it the ideal vector to guarantee perfect signal quality.

In parallel with the television signals, the Fracarro system also provides for the possibility of distributing the navigation safety programme. Thanks to a  special programming of the D-MATRIX control units, the TV channels can be blacked out at any time, to broadcast technical messages, for example in the event of an emergency.
